Sometimes, it feels like we spend a lot of time asking "why." We might wonder why a word looks the way it does, perhaps why "Filipino" has an "f" when "Philippines" starts with "ph," or even why a sound in a comic book gets reduced to a single letter, say, a "z" for snoring. These kinds of questions about how things are named or how explanations work, as some folks have pointed out, often lead us down rather interesting paths of thought. Yet, beyond the everyday puzzles of language and how we talk about things, there is that really big question that touches the very core of who we are, and that is, why do we truly need to love?
